6 Hours in Miami: A Quick Itinerary for Luxury Shoppers and Art Enthusiasts.
Adventure
Before my trip to Italy, I decided to make a quick stop in Miami. I wanted to get a feel for the city’s vibe before committing to a full-blown vacation there. My itinerary was simple—think “luxury shopper with a taste for the arts” type of day.
Quick Thoughts on Miami
The Weather: I loved it. December in Miami is ideal, especially compared to other U.S. cities. It’s great that in the U.S., you can pick the weather you want—summer vibes in Miami, skiing in Aspen.
The Cost: Miami is expensive. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re on a tight budget. Expensive cities like Miami are designed for people to spend a lot of money. If you’re a person of taste, the things you’ll want to do will likely cost you. So, either come prepared or know the right people with the right connections.
Stop 1: Miami Design District
The Design District is packed with luxury shops, and while it can feel overwhelming, there’s something for everyone. I loved the unique car displays, and the service associates (SAs) in the stores were surprisingly friendly—something I find is becoming rare in luxury retail.
One highlight was my visit to Loro Piana. The SA there was so lovely and shared some fascinating facts about the brand. Did you know Loro Piana was originally a supplier of wool and still supplies it to Brunello Cucinelli? I love learning details like this—it adds a deeper appreciation for the brand.
Stop 2: Galeries Bartoux
Curious to see the post-Art Basel vibe, I visited Galeries Bartoux, and I was thoroughly impressed. The standout pieces for me were the sculptures by Carole Feuerman, a hyperrealist sculptor.
Her display featured three women who had just finished swimming and were resting. The level of detail was mind-blowing—the sweat on their bodies looked so real, and the expressions on their faces were captivating.
Carole Feuerman also showcased more of her work at Art Basel. If you’re intrigued, you can learn more about her here.
Stop 3: Contessa for Dinner (Almost)
I had planned to eat at Contessa, but I spent too much time exploring the Design District and didn’t want to risk missing my flight. However, I did soak in the ambiance while I contemplated at my table for about 20 minutes.
The vibe? It felt like dining with Pablo Escobar. The music, mood, and décor gave off a Colombian energy—though this might not have been intentional, as the restaurant is Italian and aims to transport guests to Lake Como. Oops!
Final Thoughts
That was my quick six hours in Miami. Have you been before? What are your top recommendations? Whether it’s shopping, art, or dining, I’d love to hear about your favorite spots!
