This month, I’ve chosen Gaia London as the restaurant of the month based on my experience when I visited and the collective feedback from foodies I trust. Gaia London is known for its unique take on Mediterranean cuisine, with a particular emphasis on Greek flavors and techniques. The homegrown food, beverage, and lifestyle concept was born of a collaboration between Evgeny Kuzin and Chef Izu Ani (whose heritage is Nigerian).
Why we love Gaia London:
1. The Food
I had almost given up on the culinary scene in London until I tried Gaia earlier this year, which resuscitated my hope in dining at restaurants again. The menu has a blend of traditional and contemporary dishes that have very distinct flavors which I’ve found intriguing. Signature dishes include the Seared Scallops with Truffle Foam, a harmonious blend of flavors showcasing the chef’s creativity, and the Wagyu Beef Tartare, a luxurious take on a classic dish. The Chocolate Fondant is a must-try dessert, offering a decadent experience that melts in your mouth.
One of the desserts, the ‘Loukoumades,’ reminded me very much of the Nigerian puff puff. So if you are looking for something similar, you should try this!
2. The Decor
From the moment you step into Gaia, you are enveloped in a very aesthetically elevated space. The interior design shows that a lot of time and effort was put into creating a vibe, a mood that would translate the feel of an elevated Mediterranean lifestyle.
3. Other Locations
Gaia London is part of a prestigious family of restaurants with locations in some of the world’s most vibrant and cosmopolitan cities. Notable locations include:
Gaia Dubai: Good for stunning views of the skyline.
Gaia Mykonos: Located on the picturesque island of Mykonos.
Gaia Monaco: Nestled in the opulent surroundings of Monte Carlo, Gaia Monaco is synonymous with luxury.
4. The Clientele and Pricing
Gaia London attracts a discerning clientele. From business professionals to celebrities, the restaurant is a favorite among those who seek an elevated dining experience. The pricing for main courses typically ranges from £30 to £60.
5. The Private Club
One of Gaia London’s unique features is its exclusive private club located downstairs. This intimate space offers a secluded setting for guests to enjoy a more private dining experience or to host special events.
